One of the great things about studying in England, and certainly Cambridge, is that, bizarrely enough, on occasions it is easy to forget that you're in England at all. That is to say, the university cultivates and places great importance on a sense of community that tries to incorporate as many nationalities and cultures as it possibly can. As a result it is virtually impossible not to expand your horizons just by being there. In Cambridge, this cultural diversity and flexibility is also reflected in the academic approach. While it is possible to stick to one subject for the duration of your degree, it is also possible to change courses from one year to the next and broaden your studies almost in any way you wish. Nor is your attention limited to your degree. There are, quite literally, thousands of clubs and societies, from meditation to ultimate frisbee, as well as a vibrant student music scene: hundreds of orchestras, jazz bands, indie and rock groups, funk, hip hop - you name it, it's there. In short, your degree is only part of your university experience.
